starting this year fucking right, year of the dragon, it all ends this year, might as well go nuts
i drew this cover for VICE magazine's january "children of the dragon" issue

they asked me to draw a dragon, and this is what i came up with .no photo's ive seen of this cover do the color any justice, the printing process had to be quit exact, and pretty expensive, we used spot colors, metallic blue, and neon orange, colors that are not found on a regular printer, so they had to be printed twice seperately , and then the final line drawing printed over the whole thing.

after painting in the sleet and the snow for a week, i took a break and dried out in the desert and took my kid sister,ASA AKIRA to the big kids prom, where she was crowned prom/porn queen as the person who has sex better than anyone in every way (overachiever!), second year in a row. as some of you know i havent painted in over a year, cuz i been busy prancing about and blabbing on the radio so when i was asked to paint at this years NUART festival with 2 of my favorite and best artists in the world Herbert Baglione and DVS-1, i was like fuck my asshole you asshole lets do this! (what you see below is all the shit i painted in 9 days in 2 different countries with pics by a bunch of awesome people, thank you)

i wanted to do lines from stepbrothers with will farrell when he touches the drumset, but i know better not to bother people when they are playing sudoku, i didnt have a ride waiting for me , but miracuously DAVID CHIE was on my same flight and he let us share his ride, here's a steak and kidney pie from newman arms in london, but we'll get to that later.

norway was plastered with my art, in posters, and newspapers, good job guys!

just saw THOR, at the awesomest/shittiest $1.50 theater in the valley.(hot dogs were 99 cents and water cost 4 dollars) i thought the new X-men movie was the best comic book movie this summer till i saw this shit(do you see Ichi the killer up in Asgard?!). i've avoided thor comics my whole life (except the walt simonson beta ray bill years), cuz he just seemed lame and aryan. But in the last few years dope writers like Garth Ennis and J. Michael Straczynski have made the character very intersting to me. Bill Poon and many others seemed to give it high reviews so i said fuck it , i'll check this shit out, and that shit was doooope! If your a big enough nerd you know, thor's dad, Odin rides an 8-legged horse named Sleipnir, if you pay attention, you see Sleipnir show up for 2 seconds in when Odin rolls up on the Frost giants.

If you pay attention to my Art , you might also remember Sleipnir popping up on perry's place in London a few years back with DVS-1 before being buffed out after 2 days.

Because I’m a degenerate and because of this strange life I’ve been blessed with, I got invited to a $ 250,000 UFC poker tournament and also to be a judge in a miss tropic beauty contest all at the same time! WTF? That’s what I was thinking too.

Poker is not really my game, but I was gonna go up against beauty queen contestants and Cage fighters, I thought my chances were pretty good. So here I was in the poker room at the MGM about to start this crazy tournament, with poker players, hot ass bitches and scary fighters.

5 minutes after this photo was taken I sharted my pants. The smell was indescribable,

so here I am 35 years old a grown man sitting with a wet stain in my pants, I often get sticky pants but its usually on the front side. So here I was missing out on a quarter mil tournament squatting over a sink looking at myself in the mirror scrubbing my ass in the sink contemplating the meaning of life. I literally just wanted to start crying

but I got my shit together ,literally and figuratively went back downstairs and slayed half the fucking room in 2hours to become the chip leader, all the UFC fighters and pageant queens had been eliminated. And then I end up at the final two tables with only 14 people left, only the top 10 players will get a cash prize, all I have to do is sit there, and not play and I’ll make it in, but I was on fire and too aggressive. Fuuuuck! I played so stupid at the end I shouldve stayed out of some hands, i fucking even wore my Axl Rose shirt to remind myself that "nothing lasts forever" and to have "patience" I could’ve won this fucking thing! Johnny Chan was at my table, Johnny cashes at every game he’s in, he’s an OG gambler he plays every game in the casino, I played Bacarat with Johnny but never at poker, he’s the Michael Jordan of poker, he can read people soo good he could read your fucking fortune. Beating UFC champs is definitely cool and all, but Johnny Chan is the fucking man, And here he was at my table , and I went heads up with him with Ace card high I didn’t have shit . I put him in all in, and explosions were going off in my head if he was gonna catch my bluff, and that fucker folded! with only two chips left in the end Johnny knocked me out, he’s a real g , a real pro. Poker is unlike any other game in the casino, that shit is a real skill. How else do you explain him winning everytime. Ultimately in the end I lost the tournament but I can always say I went head to head with one of the greatest. Too bad he sucks at baccarat.

Anyways I was pretty fucking pissed at my bowels and card skills after the match, seeing this lion napping cooled me down a little ,

and then Sasha stopped by and we swapped shart stories, her’s was after a NIN concert hahaha, and that made me feel fetter.

I already fucked ARIA, she was more of a one night stand, and I moved on to the next one and I ended up wynning at the wynn. Whenever I win big like that I don’t like to drink, or party, so I don’t know how to process or express my feelings, it's like i just killed someone or robbed a bank, so my mind sort of implodes and I usually urinate or defecate on the bed or in a vase , or just do a plain upperdecker in my hotel room, (or i just play angrybirds, and when i say "play",i mean slay!! i got angry birds, angry birds RIO, and angry birds seasons, fully updated , every fucking level with three stars bitch!) to which your probably saying that’s so fucked up someone has to clean that up, and it’s true it really is fucked up, but i have an ongoing war with the hotel staff at all the hotels in vegas who have stolen cash, cameras, and laptops from my room. just got back from hong kong, where I went crazy in Macau and stopped by the asian art fair. Gustavo and octavio aka as the Brazilian twins or OS GEMEOS, first introduced me to one of the best artists in the world Herbert baglione,, if you’ve ever seen them in a group show they are always the stand out best and if you ever see any of their solo shows in galleries or museums, it’s always the best show you’ve ever been to, they’ve made sao Paulo the graffiti capitol of the world, artists like barry mcgee , Loomit, SAN, etc. take graffiti pilgrimages out to their hometown every year to learn about their culture and expand their own skills and styles to next level shit
As far as raising graffiti to an art form , they are the unparalleled best world champs, no one even cums close, it was nice to find out that they are just two big lovable perverts, I love that underneath all the talent ,inspiration, genius and creativity that they are basically just two perverts. Turns out the twins are both huge Sasha grey fans, and huge james jean fans, so I had them over the studio the other day, and because of where theyre from,they are are the MacGyver’s of the graf world, these fuckers turned all my clogged caps into fat caps with a dull razorblade, they turned all my fat caps into basketball sized fat caps, I had only three cans left of a discontinued paint can, that I do 70% of all my paintings with, they fixed all my graffiti problems and needs in 10 minutes! wtf ! thanks for saving me a trip to brazil!!! People who keep up on my shit, have recently said to me “dave if you haven’t been painting for a year, then what the fuck have you been doing ?!” so I guess I’ll address that right here.
Well besides fucking some of the same women tiger woods, Charlie sheen, and elliot spitzer have been fucking, without the scandal, because, a)im not married b)I’m not in politics or an A list celebrity or a good image sports figure , I’m a 5’10 asian dude with black hair and brown eyes, I don’t lie and cheat,I look like over half the planet's population, it’s like living in camoflauge I can run around in broad daylight and act a fool, and no one gives a shit, it’s great! But I didn’t spend all my time fucking and fucking around ,so then you ask what did I do with the rest of my time? I challenged myself and ……

Ok don’t ever say I didn’t do anything for you. I was gonna save this bad boy for next year, but due to all your incessant whining childish demands, I give in to your pressure. This is a 7 by 10 foot painting on canvas titled “toxic la
sunsets and the dirty moon hangs like a filthy fingernail.” I used acrylic, latex paint , oil paint, oil stick, and spray paint. As a lot of you who read my blog know, this painting which was not a commission but in my LOS ANGELES “nothing to declare “ show , is now in Mark Zuckerberg’s art collection, so it is not available. However what is available for to you this Wednesday on March 9th 2011 , is a very limited editon print of this super bright colorful super layered and textured painting, you can see many of the textures and layers in this print and a lot of subtleties in the darks . this painting was also featured as the cover of a zine’ I did with Jason jaworski, you can see it here, and read a “not gay” coversation between us here, you will really feel like your between us. 2010 was pretty brutal master,

first we had our brother ninja visit japan with our family at goodsmile.

i was watching some black and white movies

while hanging out with black and white people

i decided to check out some black and white art

i even did some myself

while listening to black and white music

and shopping for black and white toys

when i got home i jumped into bed and watched old black and white cartoons

while eating black and white cookies in bed.

as i researched black and white people

i started painting today for the first time in one year

i tried my hardest to stay away from color , but it was too hard too resist

i painted these black and white masterpieces together with one of my favorite artists George Thompson!
i don't usually paint this abstract, but there's a first time for everything. as i get older this is where my mind is moving.
some people don't like it. Even though i still love those people. those people can go fuck thier own assholes

the last time me and george painted together was a year ago, and much more colorful. i guess life changes the way seasons and ass-napkins do.

it's a big fucking painting, i'm glad mark liked it !

"Born in 1976 and raised in Los Angeles, David Choe began his career as a school drop-out and wandering graffiti artist. In the 14 years since he self-published the graphic novel Slow Jams (1996), Choe has created a kinetic body of work as an illustrator, muralist, painter, collagist and sculptor. His potent figurative work, inspired by body art, pornography, religion, and indigenous cultures, has been described as “compellingly repulsive.”

In this closing program of the exhibition “All the Wrong Art”: Juxtapoz Magazine on Film, filmmaker Harry Kim presents his documentary Dirty Hands: The Art and Crimes of David Choe (2008). Filmed over a 10-year period, it recounts Choe’s misadventures in the Congo and Japan and charts his creative activity from the mean streets of L.A. to the executive offices of Facebook. The screening is followed by a conversation between Choe, director Harry Kim, and New York artist Ron English."

for those of you who couldnt make it to my show in tokyo, dont worry
they banned me from my own show in japan ,so i didnt get to go either:(
but that didnt stop me from enjoying pictures and news of how awesome the show went and all how awesome all the japanese fans were! thanks guys!!!

for all my friends who dont live in japan and couldnt make the show, i did something special for you, i held a few of the limited edition prints "TOKYO GIRL" for the tokyo show back .it is in a edition of 76, but there are only a few left
this friday on 12/3/10 at noon west coast time we will release the remaining prints at trapezeeditions.com.
the print is 17 by 17 inches on the best paper ever of a watercolor i did inspired by half japanese women and shibuya, in a limited edition of 76, for $250 .
on top of that by popular demand, we will release a 44 by 44 inch version of the same print (it looks fucking awesome at that size)
at a super limited edtion of 5(this was not available in japan,), for $808.
all signed and numbered by me (and who knows maybe something a little extra :)
